Opening Post

This first post goes out to all the IT Pro community members out there in Canada and abroad. Let me start off by saying…

Welcome!!!

Who am I?
I am an IT Pro Advisor working for Microsoft Canada. It is my job to engage “the community” by establishing relationships and giving support to various IT Pro focused initiatives.  I am very excited to have this opportunity to reach out and share my passion for Microsoft technology with the Canadian IT Professional community.

Prior to starting at Microsoft, I most recently worked as an Enterprise Architect designing Active Directory implementations and migrations, highly available Exchange messaging solutions and overall systems management using SMS 2003.  Besides design and consulting work, I bring over 14 years experience ranging from front line “in the trenches” admin duties to training / mentoring / facilitating individuals and teams on how to use Microsoft technologies more effectively in their organization.

I work as an integral part of the Microsoft team that drives awareness, education and training through events and directly engaging with Canada’s professional communities, including IT managers, infrastructure specialists and architects as well as systems integrators, independent software vendors (ISVs) and community leaders.

Why am I going to start publishing this blog?
I find that the informal style of writing found in blogs lends itself to revealing insights that might be lost in the technical articles the information originated in. I can act as an interpreter or parser for the information I find relevant for what needs to get done. When I was a consultant looking for references or hidden gems of info – I inevitably found valuable information buried in various blogs around on the internet.

Blogs can create a strong connection between people who have similar interests and who “live” in a particular online community.  I’m hanging out my digital shingle and invite you to comment and interact with the IT Pro community as well.

How often will I post?
My favourite answer - that depends. Only time and content will tell. I am aiming for once or twice a week as an initial target. We'll see where it goes from there.
